BARINGA
BRYTEEYES WATCH MY STYLE C.C.D. C.D. E.T.
Baringa was the second pup in Bimbi's only litter and was on a nipple before he was fully born, he was always close to his mum washing her and working with her as a team in thier quests for rabbits. Named for a character in some of my favourite books Baringa was affectionatly refered to as my grandson as his mum was my "Baby" and I called myself his "Nanna". Baringa loved going to obedience and to shows, even near the end of his life I didn't know how sick he was as one month before being diagnosed with advanced liver cancer he put on a fine display of open level obedience though reluctant to jump.
One of our greatest highlights was going into the Open level obedience ring to compete with Baringa at 8 years of age, though we didn't obtain a pass it was one of my proudest moments as I had never done so before. His good nature around small dogs saw him in the drop position without command to help build thier confidence, and his love of retrieving was only beaten by his mum's. My two cats. Yambo and Grimbald helped raise Baringa by teaching him to wash ears and not to wrestle too hard with them, they enjoyed all his attention and could often be found keeping him comany.
One of my favourite outings was the D.C.O.V. endurance test, as we were the first team in the line we followed the pace setter, every time Baringa thought that the pace was too slow he would trot alongside that person's bike and then when we sped up he would either trot beside me or between the two bikes; thereby also showing just how fit he was. A couple of times Baringa nearly pulled me off the bike wanting to either chase the water birds, or go another way around the course, we even had to cover a lap with a twisted handlebar as trying to get past a pole on a footbridge he pulled me too close and thankfully my knee and the handlebar survived.
